The main reason why Halloween is not such a big holiday in the UK as it is in the US, is because at this time of year we are busy burning Catholics

In fact we are celebrating the failure of an attempt, by a group of dissatisfied Catholics, to blow up the Houses of Parliament on November 5th 1605

And the best way to do this is with fireworks and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes (the conspirator who was caught red handed)

oh and i wanted to reply to HUMP DAY with this little factiod- supposedly it was started by the catholic church asking people not to screw on wednesdays for some reason, like practicing birth control- to phrase it ironically, considering their position on that...
