Avoid being “Raked” in Omaha High/Low (H/L) cash games

Omaha H/L is a great game to play because it gives you the opportunity to play two types of games per hand. The best “high” hand receives half of the pot and the best “low” hand receives the other half of the pot. It also works well in cash games sessions, but there’s one small problem…THE RAKE!

The course of action here is basically straight up, unless you have some other indication of their play. If you have them on an obvious draw, bet solid. If the river is a brick add one small bet to cap it off, and hope for a re-raise. In game play, they are the ones to watch most in order...

Have you ever heard the phrase; “The house always wins”? Well the same is true for cash games, but house isn’t the online poker site, it’s your fellow poker players and the online poker site or your choice. Basically, the same pool of money will constantly move from player to player and the only true winners here are the sites because of the rake.

Based on what I see (and what I’ve done plenty of times in the past myself), you will eventually lose your money at a cash table session (bad beat, called bluff, dominated hand, ect.) if you continue to play. It’s really just a matter of...
